Welcome! My name is Nichole and I am just a regular gal like you all who loves to stitch and quilt. I inherited this from my mom, my grandmothers, my aunt and my great grandmother! So it is safe to say that I hope one day my daughter will pick it up too (she is fighting me tooth and nail at the moment, but just wait).
I used to watch my mom and grandma work on projects together when I was around 13. Grandma would get me started stitching something, but for some reason I thought she called it “apple can”. Little did I know that she meant applique…and it took years for that to get out of my head. And actually, I was stitching…but even so the love was implanted and years later I found the call to touch needle and thread increasing in my life.
For years I focused on raising my tiny tots (and still am, only they are not so tiny…they are teeny–as in teenagers) and did some scrapbooking as a hobby. But one day I wanted to make them some cute jammie pants and so I did that…and then a little more…and then I was hooked. I ended up making miniature quilts for Christmas presents, and hand quilting them. Besides making the occasional curtains or odd thing here or there…my machine was put away for quite a few years. Homeschooling took a lot of time, and sewing just wasn’t something in the forefront of my mind.
About 2 years ago we started trying to adopt. The stress of it all started to get to me and after watching my mom sew constantly and my best friend always making something…the bug bit again and I have not stopped. It has become a friend to me. A way to slowly while away the stresses of my day. A way to create. The blog was born because I had made a decision. I wanted to create. I wanted to share things about my life. I wanted to let others know how valuable sewing has been to me.
And so it remains….and so I welcome you with a happy heart and busy hands. I pray you will be blessed in your nest, as I have been in mine.
Sincerely, Nichole
